Seeking the Right Things
READ: Matthew 6:19-34
Devotional:
The priests and scribes knew exactly where the Messiah would be born Bethlehem, less than ten miles away yet they wouldn't go. They had knowledge without devotion, information without transformation. Meanwhile, the Magi traveled six to nine months across dangerous terrain. What's the difference? The wise men were seeking Jesus as their treasure. Today, we often settle for biblical literacy without life change, attending church without pursuing Christ. Discipleship isn't about accumulating information; it's about transformation. Jesus asks: what are you really seeking? Comfort? Success? Approval? Or Him? The Magi gave their treasures because Jesus was their treasure. This Christmas, evaluate what you're truly pursuing.
Reflection:
Are you willing to journey far to encounter Jesus, or are you too comfortable where you are?
