Knowing Your Enemy

1 Peter 5:8-9

8 Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. 9 Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same kind of sufferings are being experienced by your fellow believers throughout the world.

Today's reading reminds us to be alert and of sober mind, for our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion. In our spiritual battles, it's crucial to understand who our real enemy is. It's not other people, political parties, or even our own shortcomings - it's the devil and his schemes. This week's sermon highlighted five methods of the enemy: misinformation, accusation, intimidation, temptation, and hesitation. As you go through your day, be aware of these tactics. How might the enemy be using them in your life? Remember, while the devil is powerful, he is not all-powerful. Our God is greater, and in Christ, we have already won the war. Today, practice discernment. When faced with negativity or doubt, ask yourself: Is this from God, or could this be an attack from the enemy? Stand firm in your faith, resisting the devil's schemes through prayer and the power of God's Word.
