Embracing Our Identity as God's Children

Romans 8:14-17

For all those led by God’s Spirit  are God’s sons.  For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear.  Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption,  by whom we cry out, “ Abba ,  Father! ” The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit  that we are God’s children, and if children, also heirs of God and coheirs with Christ if indeed we suffer with him  so that we may also be glorified with him.

When the prodigal son returned, his father immediately restored his status as a son, complete with robe, ring, and sandals. Similarly, when we turn to God, He doesn't treat us as mere servants but as beloved children. Meditate on what it means to be adopted into God's family. How does this identity as God's child change how you view yourself and your relationship with God? Reflect on areas where you might still be living as if you were a slave or hired hand rather than a child of God. Pray for a deeper revelation of your identity in Christ and the courage to live fully in that identity.
