Seeing with God's Eyes

Matthew 9:35-38

Jesus continued going around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom,  and healing every  disease and every sickness.  , When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected,  like sheep without a shepherd.  Then he said to his disciples,  “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.”

This week's sermon highlighted how the Samaritan first "saw" the man in need. Jesus, too, saw the crowds and had compassion on them. In our busy lives, it's easy to overlook the hurting around us. Today, pray for "eyes to see" as Jesus sees. As you go about your day, intentionally look for those who might be overlooked or in need. It could be a co-worker having a tough day, a neighbor struggling with loneliness, or a stranger looking lost. Ask God to fill you with His compassion and for the courage to act on what you see, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone.
